PVC RC Model Boat Stands

Having a sturdy stand to start and store your RC model boat on will make starting safer and will protect your investment. Stands can be made out of any material as long as it won't scratch or damage the hull.

A popular choice is making stands out of PVC piping. The joints and pipe are available from most hardware stores and the design can be as simple or as complex as you like. You can use 20mm or 25mm pipe and fittings depending on what design you select. If you use the blue PVC glue on your boat stand, make sure you test fit all your pieces before applying any glue. The glue bonds within one or two seconds so if you don't get your joint on at the angle you want, you have to throw it out and try again. Another method is to drill and pop-rivet the joints.

Here are some example stands that others have built.

The example above includes a guard to protect the transom hardware and provide protection from the propeller.
