Practice Lake

The Club Practice Lake is at the Lake Tuggeranong Wier (across the road from Bunnings) as shown on the maps below. This is where the club hold its "test and tune" days.

The Practice Lake does not require a permit to run Model Boats on it so members are free to use the lake at anytime except the 1st Sunday on the month as the lake is reserved for the Canberra Model Yacht Club. The Canberra Model Yacht Club normally run on the main lake however, the potential for radio frequency clashes exist so no running on that day.

Members should also keep the following in mind:

  • Swimming is prohibited in the practice lake so bring your own rescue craft or use a fishing rod.
  • Be aware of other people (non members) using radio controlled equipment in the vicinity- do a radio check before launching.
  • Be aware of the danger of having spectators near the waters edge - stop your boats and ask them to move to a safe area.
  • Be aware of the time of the day for the amount of noise you make.

Bring the family down to watch the high speed nitro, gas and electric boats in action. If you have a powered model boat, feel free to bring it along. We don't care if its a toy or a high powered racer - All are welcome.
